== 人物 ==
[[トリニダード・トバゴ]]で生まれ、9歳で渡英。[[ケンブリッジ大学]]卒業後、[[ロンドン・スクール・オブ・エコノミクス]]で政治社会学を学び、1975年、[[ケント大学]]から[[社会学]]の博士号を取得。ケント大学カンタベリー校社会学部講師・助教授・教授を経て、2002年から現職。
